Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Release Date Confirmed for March 2027

The sequel to Sonic the Hedgehog 3 finally has a release date, with fans eagerly awaiting the next chapter in the franchise.

I can’t stop thinking about Sonic the Hedgehog 3 since watching it last month. The first two films were enjoyable, but the third’s many references to Sonic Adventure 2 and the introduction of Keanu Reeves as Shadow, my favorite character, have made it my top pick among the trilogy.

We already anticipated the release of a fourth movie, especially after the post-credits scene of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 hinted at Amy Rose joining the cinematic universe and showcased Metal Sonic. Then, right before the release of the third film, pre-production was announced. However, the exact release date for the upcoming installment was still unknown — until now.

Paramount Pictures has officially set the release date for Sonic the Hedgehog 4 for March 19, 2027. While two years seem a long time to wait, I am genuinely impressed by the speed at which the studio is producing these films. The first film debuted in February 2020, followed by the second in April 2022, amid the pandemic.

This two-year cycle for what have been three great films indeed is commendable. I do wonder if we will see the full cast return for this next edition, especially Jim Carrey, who has played Robotnik remarkably well. I wouldn’t fault him for retiring the role after three films, considering he has taken on an additional character in the latest movie.

I really hope he continues and that Paramount maintains its streak of producing excellent Sonic content. By the way, if there happens to be a Sonic the Hedgehog 5, my suggestion for the next character would be Rogue the Bat. She’s long overdue for some screen time.
