Capcom has initiated a crackdown on cheating in Monster Hunter Wilds. Following its first challenge quest where players competed for the top spot on a global leaderboard, it became evident that many users exploited the system to achieve impossibly fast completion times. In response, Capcom is starting a review period lasting between one to two weeks to ensure the accuracy of the leaderboard.
“The final rankings results for this quest will be confirmed during a 1-to-2 week review period from today. Event rewards will be distributed after any fraudulent clear times have been investigated and excluded,” Capcom stated in a Steam news post.
This review is a direct effort to maintain the integrity of the competition and will also lead to the exclusion of players found cheating, along with restrictions on their accounts. As outlined, Capcom has already begun addressing instances of dishonesty with the necessary punitive measures and will be conducting thorough investigations of clear times, emphasizing its commitment to fair gameplay.
In addition, Capcom seems set on implementing future updates aimed at detecting unauthorized game data modifications, continuing its efforts to deter cheating behaviors. Players have been warned that actions against fraudulent activity will not be open for discussion or reversal.
