Overwatch 2 recently revealed some notable modifications to the Perks system set for Season 16, featuring new options for Sombra, Mercy, Juno, and Mei, along with nerfs for Tracer’s impactful abilities. These updates will be rolled out in the Overwatch 2 Season 16 update scheduled for April 22.
Perks, an innovative system introduced in Overwatch 2 in Season 15, offer unique enhancements for each character during gameplay. For instance, Ana benefits from the “Double Nano” Shrike while Bastion employs Lindholm Explosives. However, Overwatch 2 has confirmed that the Perks will undergo future adjustments based on usage and performance to maintain variety.
Additionally, with Season 16 approaching, fans can expect an initial set of Perk adjustments soon. In a recent update from Alec Dawson, the new associate director, he disclosed upcoming Perks meant to replace less popular options in the update. For example, Sombra’s Stack Overflow Major Perk will transform into Viral Replication, enabling Virus to affect additional foes, while Mercy’s Angelic Recover Minor Perk will switch to Angelic Resurrection, which grants 100 Overhealth when performing a Resurrect. Juno will also see numerous Perk changes, with the new Locked On Major Perk providing cooldown reductions based on enemy hits and the Re-Boots Major Perk transitioning to a Minor Perk status.
Finally, while Sombra and Mei receive exciting enhancements, some heroes like Tracer will see reductions in existing powerful capabilities, illustrating the game developers’ commitments to balance, as noted by Dawson.
