The Largest Gaming Subreddit Bans X Over Toxicity and Elon Musk's Controversial Actions
Reddit's largest PC gaming community has decided to blacklist X, formerly Twitter, citing its toxic environment and controversial behavior from its owner, Elon Musk.
Reddit’s largest community dedicated to PC gaming has recently announced that it has blacklisted X, previously known as Twitter, due to its ‘hateful, toxic’ and ‘increasingly less moderated’ nature. This decision was made public by a moderator of the subreddit, who pointed to Elon Musk’s distasteful actions as a factor for this ban.
In the announcement, the moderator emphasized that:
“This is something that we’ve been contemplating for a little while now. X has become increasingly hateful, toxic and less and less moderated.”
(Translation: This is something we have been thinking about for a long time. X has become more hateful, toxic, and less regulated.)
The moderator specifically referenced Musk’s behavior during a recent public event, which included a controversial Nazi salute, heightening discomfort within the community regarding linking to X. Despite the ban, the moderators will still allow users to post screenshots of X content in the subreddit to foster discussion.
Interestingly, Musk has faced additional scrutiny for allegedly account-boosting in popular games like Path of Exile 2. After viewers noted discrepancies between his gameplay and his self-professed low familiarity with the game, he acknowledged account-boosting, which violates the service’s terms.
