Nvidia has announced that it is collaborating with “leading manufacturing partners” to construct and operate factories focused on producing Nvidia’s Blackwell chips and AI supercomputers entirely within the United States.
This initiative aims to generate approximately $500 billion in AI infrastructure.
Nvidia stated that production for the Blackwell chips has commenced at TSMC’s facilities in Phoenix, Arizona. The company is also developing supercomputer manufacturing plants in Texas, with partners like Foxconn in Houston and Wistron in Dallas, where mass production is set to increase significantly in the next 12-15 months.
Industry Collaboration
The company has partnered with Amkor and SPIL for packaging and testing operations in Arizona, addressing the complex demands for advanced manufacturing and assembly technologies that the AI supply chain requires.
Future Prospects
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang emphasized the significance of this manufacturing shift, stating, “The engines of the world’s AI infrastructure are being built in the United States for the first time… Adding American manufacturing helps us meet the incredible and growing demand for AI chips and supercomputers.”
The Trump administration has quickly claimed credit for Nvidia’s announcement, suggesting that it represents “the Trump Effect in action.” However, many critics argue that the advancements are more closely related to policies like the CHIPS Act signed into law during the Biden administration.
Huang’s remarks underscore Nvidia’s ambition to create vast employment opportunities and enhance economic security across America by producing these technologies domestically.
