There’s a web tool that estimates the value of your Steam account by looking at all the games you own. However, it doesn’t calculate how much you’ve actually spent, considering microtransactions and more.
A potentially shocking number is hidden within Steam’s help sections. Recently, a Reddit user pointed out the relevant help page. You can climb to this spot in the Steam client by navigating to: Help > Steam support > My account > Data related to your Steam account > External funds used.
Once the community learned about this feature, many checked their totals. Spending results ranged widely, from hundreds to, as an outlier, over $16,000!
A notable case saw a user with a staggering total exceeding $26,000, with some gamers reportedly sinking even greater amounts into cosmetic skins for Counter-Strike. As one player humorously remarked, “Oh God,” after revealing their figure.
Regardless of personal totals, there’s a frank acknowledgment among gamers about the unexpected pain of realizing just how much they have invested over time.
In the grand scheme of entertainment expenses, PC gaming can still be considered cost-effective, especially when compare to other hobbies like streaming services.
