EA Community Manager Responds to Battlefield Leaks and SBMM Controversy

An EA community manager addresses the backlash surrounding leaked information about the upcoming Battlefield game, particularly relating to the SBMM feature.

An ongoing playtest for the next Battlefield title has raised significant concerns, particularly regarding the feature known as SBMM (Skill-Based Matchmaking). This controversy escalated as leaks of game footage proliferated online, leading to a fierce backlash from the community.

In a Reddit post, lead producer David Sirland addressed the public’s frustrations about the SBMM rumors, stating they are currently unverified and often delivered out of context. According to him, this can lead to misunderstandings and damage the trust between the developers and the community.

Another prominent figure, community manager T0TALfps, also expressed discontent over the leaks. He emphasized the importance of a safe testing environment, explaining that features introduced via Battlefield Labs might not all make it into the final product. “It’s only official when we share it and feel comfortable with the details at hand,” he stated.

Moving forward, both Sirland and T0TALfps urge fans to refrain from jumping to conclusions based on leaks. They note that genuine, transparent communication remains critical in the engagement between developers and the community.
