Age of Empires II's New DLC to Take Players to Ancient China

The upcoming DLC for Age of Empires II introduces new factions and campaigns set during the Three Kingdoms era.

The acclaimed strategy game, Age of Empires II, continues to thrive 26 years after its initial release. Its latest expansion, The Three Kingdoms, is set to launch on May 6, bringing players into the heart of ancient China during the waning days of the Han dynasty.

This new DLC will introduce five new factions and three campaigns, including the mighty factions of Shu, Wei, and Wu. Some of the unique units players can control include the Shu’s war chariot and the Wei’s tiger cavalry. There’s also a bizarre new unit that captures attention: a mounted trebuchet that is carried by camels, showcasing the quirky yet innovative extensions of gameplay.

In the campaigns, players will delve into significant events from the Three Kingdoms period, like the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the legendary Battle of Red Cliffs, encountering prominent historical figures such as Zhuge Liang and Lü Bu. Notably, an interactive system will allow players to influence the course of their campaigns through key decisions.
