Inspiration from REPO Revives Development on Lethal Company

Solo developer of Lethal Company, Zeekerss, finds new energy for the game after playing REPO, expressing renewed enthusiasm for continuing its development.

Development on Lethal Company has not progressed much recently; the last update came four months ago. This slowdown has been attributed largely to the developer, Zeekerss, redirecting their focus towards a new game while struggling with creative challenges. However, playing REPO, a recent co-op horror game, has ignited fresh inspiration for them.

“I’m accepting the fact that Welcome To The Dark Place is taxing to work on for long amounts of time, and I need time to stew over my ideas,” says Zeekerss in a Patreon post. “Perhaps playing REPO has also inspired me to switch back to Lethal Company. So I’ve begun work on V70.”

In recent weeks, REPO has become the go-to game for Zeekerss and their friends. Initially skeptical, they were grateful for a second attempt as the game’s engagement increased over time.

Ultimately, Zeekerss believes REPO’s design encourages strategic gameplay. While they noted certain gameplay difficulties in REPO, the overall experience has pushed them to reinvigorate their own project, stating: “I wrote up a document outlining my basic vision for Lethal Company, leading to early access, and my energy level is suddenly very high.”
