As negative reviews accumulate on Steam, Movie Games SA, the publisher of Drug Dealer Simulator, has publicly addressed the uproar tied to its investigation of the indie title, Schedule I. In a recent post on the DDS 2 Steam page, the company affirmed: “There is no lawsuit.”
Following an announcement that it was looking into potential copyright infringements regarding Schedule I, Movie Games SA stated no legal action had been initiated. This has been corroborated by Tyler, the creator of Schedule I, emphasizing that the investigation is part of the company’s legal obligations.
The situation took a turn as gamers quickly began reviewing Drug Dealer Simulator and DDS 2 negatively, leading to a drop in their ratings on Steam. Many of the reviews were made in reaction to what was perceived as a threat of legal action against TVGS, despite no lawsuit being filed.
Despite the company’s efforts to clarify their position and assurances against any lawsuits, the negative sentiments and review bombardment continued among the gaming community. As reiterated in a post: “There is no lawsuit, and we do not intend to prevent TVGS from developing or selling their game.”
While Movie Games SA has addressed the situation, the community’s response indicates lingering concerns about the implications of their investigation regarding similarities between the two games.
