LocalThunk Advocates for Blue Prince's Game of the Year Nomination at The Game Awards

LocalThunk is pushing for the game Blue Prince to receive recognition at The Game Awards, claiming it's deserving of a Game of the Year nomination.

LocalThunk, the creative mind behind Balatro, is advocating for Blue Prince to receive a nomination for Game of the Year (GOTY) at the upcoming 2025 Game Awards. In a passionate declaration on social media, he expressed, “Geoff my man I better see Blue Prince as a GOTY nominee.”
Blue Prince has garnered acclaim from reviewers, sporting an impressive 92% rating on Metacritic, standing tall as the top-rated video game of 2025, narrowly surpassing Split Fiction.
Despite his enthusiasm, there’s a minor hitch: Geoff Keighley, who oversees the Game Awards, is relatively inactive on Bluesky, where LocalThunk made his initial appeal. This prompted him to switch to another platform, X, to reinforce his demand with a more assertive message.
LocalThunk reasoned, “Any review of the game clearly shows the promise it holds. The studio’s first commercial release is something to be excited for.”
While we anticipate the nominations, the indies have a history of catching the spotlight at the Game Awards, as exemplified by Balatro’s multiple nominations last year.
Blue Prince is set to launch on Steam at 7 AM PT/10 AM ET on April 10, 2025, providing players a chance to experience this highly anticipated title.
