Fan Backlash Erupts as Drug Dealer Simulator Publisher Investigates Schedule I for Possible Copyright Issues

The latest news on Drug Dealer Simulator's publisher facing backlash from fans due to copyright investigation concerning Schedule I.

The publisher of Drug Dealer Simulator, Movie Games SA, has confirmed it is exploring potential copyright infringements involving another game, Schedule I. This decision has led to considerable backlash from gamers, primarily manifested through a review bombing campaign on Steam.

While Movie Games states it has not yet pursued any legal action and does not aim to stop Schedule I’s sales, fans of the latter are rallying in defense of their preferred title. As noted by the publisher, “Our goal at this point is discussing the situation with Schedule I’s developer TVGS and we have an open approach.”

Despite the absence of formal legal steps, Drug Dealer Simulator and its sequel are experiencing significant negative reviews, largely attributed to this controversy. Recent user feedback includes sentiments such as:

  • Imagine getting your ass handed to you by one person with passion and vision, and thinking the right move is to cry to your legal team instead.
  • I enjoyed this at the time but after seeing how these jealous devs are taking legal action against an arguably superior game for the sole reason that they’re jealous.

Previously, the original Drug Dealer Simulator was received positively, holding an overall rating of “very positive” across more than 19,000 reviews. However, the sequel has fared less favorably, with a mixed rating being reported.

The ongoing situation highlights the complexities of fan support and backlash in the gaming community, illustrating how competitive pressures can spur negative reactions among fans. This incident serves as a reminder of the influence that community sentiment can wield over a game’s reputation in the digital marketplace.
