A New Kind of Hero
Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, well-known for his role as the game director of The Witcher 3, has launched a new project at his studio, Rebel Wolves. His latest game, The Blood of Dawnwalker, aims to explore themes that the gaming industry has yet to tackle.
Tomaszkiewicz revealed his motivations behind creating this vampire-themed RPG, featuring a protagonist named Coen, who embodies both human vulnerabilities and vampire strengths. He expressed, “I wanted to design a protagonist who is human by day and a powerful vampire by night, creating a blend of typical heroism with unique characteristics.”
With a gameplay mechanic that advances in-game time based on completed tasks, players must make strategic choices on how Coen will spend his time. This approach presents an engaging twist on player agency and the impact of decisions in narratives.
Tomaszkiewicz believes this duality in character offers players a fresh lens to experience storytelling within games. He emphasizes that such complexities have not been fully explored in the industry yet. “We are curious to see how audiences react to this unconventional hero dynamic,” he added.
