Amazon App Expands Shopping Options with New AI Feature

Amazon is introducing a feature that allows users to shop for items from other retailers directly through its app.

If you love shopping on Amazon, there’s exciting news! Soon, you will have the ability to purchase items from outside retailers directly through the Amazon app, thanks to its innovative “Buy for Me” AI feature.

This feature enables users to search for specific products from various brands and order them, regardless of whether or not Amazon stocks those products.

Already available for a select group of users in the US, “Buy for Me” allows mobile users on both Android and iOS platforms to streamline their online shopping experience. Initially, it rolls out for a limited selection of brand stores and products based on early customer feedback.

Utilizing advanced “agentic AI,” the system enhances the shopping experience by employing sophisticated reasoning and iterative planning to tackle complex issues. While this new feature integrates seamlessly into the existing shopping interface, currently, customers cannot apply promotional codes to third-party items, and it only processes one item at a time.

For any returns or refunds, users will have to manage them through the retailer from which they made the purchase.

With this launch, Amazon solidifies its role as a central hub for online shopping—while providing delivery tracking and limited customer service capabilities. Customers are protected with price adjustments during checkout if there are discrepancies in pricing, making it easier to manage their shopping needs without the hassle of multiple apps.
