The forthcoming FPS remake, Total Chaos, will unveil a demo for eager players to try out soon. This significant overhaul promises to introduce entirely new environments for players to explore.
Last year, creator Sam Prebble announced plans for a complete remake of Total Chaos, celebrated as one of the best mods for Doom, a game often associated with its intense action and horror elements.
Speaking to Rock Paper Shotgun, Prebble stated that the demo is set to be available very soon. While exact release dates remain unspecified, the demo will not only provide an early glimpse at the remake but will be part of a broader development approach that doesn’t rely heavily on player feedback.
He expressed, “I don’t want to gravitate too far in one direction and alter the essence that players loved about the original mod.”
This new rendition diverges from being a one-for-one remake of the original mod by enriching players’ experiences with deeper narratives and environments.
The game is situated in the same mysterious setting—a mining colony influenced by Japan’s Hashima Island. Prebble elaborated, “Returning players might recognize familiar spaces, yet they’ll discover innovative twists and completely new areas that enhance the gameplay experience.”
Despite being the architect behind one of the most renowned horror mods, Prebble disclosed that he has yet to experience classic horror titles such as Silent Hill or Resident Evil, which is intriguing given his dramatic contributions to the genre.
