Bringing Back the Glory Days of PvP in EverQuest 2 with Classic Server

EverQuest 2 announces the revival of its classic PvP experience with the introduction of a new server designed for nostalgic gameplay.

Darkpaw Games is set to unveil a fresh PvP server for EverQuest 2 named Dozekar in June, framing a return to the classic gameplay era. This server will reintroduce the iconic ruleset that many veteran players remember fondly.

The initial launch of EverQuest 2 showcased two principal hubs: Freeport and Qeynos. Freeport was infamous for its treachery, while Qeynos represented order and civilization. The tension between these factions was an essential element of the game, and PvP servers like Nagafen were vibrant arenas of conflict.

As player abilities evolved and the community became increasingly focused on raiding, the once-thriving PvP scene started to fade, forcing servers like Nagafen to merge with others. This shift disappointed many, including Kyle Vallee, the creative director, who reminisces about the pivotal 2006 era.

Vallee remarked, “For us, the absolute heyday of player versus player for EverQuest 2 was this timeline, especially Deserts of Flame and Kingdom of Sky.” He is hopeful that the new server will rekindle the excitement.

The EverQuest 2 team has been experimenting with classic servers since 2015, attempting to blend traditional gameplay with modern updates. However, the upcoming Dozekar server seeks to restore the experience that long-time players cherished, revitalizing the tensions and skirmishes that defined the early game.

So for fans waiting to relive the glory of classic PvP combat, prepare to engage once again as Dozekar opens its gates in June, unlocking new content every few months.
