The popular free-to-play collectible card game, Marvel Snap, has unexpectedly become embroiled in the US TikTok ban. Players are now encountering similar access issues to those faced by TikTok users, finding it difficult to log into the game. Marvel Snap’s publisher, Nuverse, is a subsidiary of TikTok’s parent company Bytedance. They stated that the potential ramifications of the ban were unanticipated.
Attempting to access the game on Steam results in login issues, while mobile players see the message: “A law banning Marvel Snap has been enacted in the US. Unfortunately, that means you can’t use Marvel Snap for now. Rest assured, we’re working to restore our service in the US. Please stay tuned!”.

The developer, Second Dinner, confirmed the ban’s impact, addressing the surprise that such actions had been taken regarding a game they developed. They assured players, “Marvel Snap isn’t going anywhere. We’re actively working on getting the game up as soon as possible and will update you once we have more to share.”
This sudden enforcement raises questions about how it might influence other apps linked to Bytedance and whether changes might occur with the new government administration. Rumors suggest that the incoming Trump administration might reverse the ban or at least provide some relief. Compensations, potentially in-game currency, are anticipated for players once the service is restored.
