Game Developers Advise Against Nvidia Driver Updates for RTX 40-Series Users

Developers from 'Inzoi' and 'The First Berserker: Khazan' recommend avoiding the latest Nvidia drivers for RTX 40-series graphics cards to prevent stability issues.

If you are among the many gamers with an RTX 40-series card, you might want to reconsider installing the latest Nvidia drivers. Developers from the recently launched games Inzoi and The First Berserker: Khazan are recommending that players using RTX 40-series graphics cards skip the unstable driver version 572.83 and revert back to the older version 566.36, released last December.

For RTX 30-Series owners, the message is different: while it’s encouraged to get the latest driver, the developers noted, “If issues persist, we recommend installing version 566.36.”

Both the Inzoi patch and The First Berserker FAQ clearly endorse the same drivers for their respective titles, marking a rare consensus among major gaming studios.

At this time, neither set of guidance elaborates on the specific issues that RTX 40-series users may encounter with the newest drivers; however, the First Berserker FAQ mentions possible “stability issues” when using version 572 without detailing them further. RTX 50-series users are encouraged to update their drivers as usual.

You can find Graphics driver 572.83 launched on March 18, 2025, accompanying a feedback thread on Nvidia’s official forums where numerous users have reported performance dips post-update.

If you feel uneasy about the latest driver, reverting to an earlier version can be done through the Nvidia drivers site.
