MrBeast and James Patterson Team Up for a Thriller Inspired by Squid Game

Hollywood is vying for the film rights to a new thriller co-authored by YouTube sensation MrBeast and best-selling novelist James Patterson.

Deadline reports that a fierce bidding war has started for a new thriller novel written by an unexpected team: best-selling author James Patterson and YouTube megastar Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson. The duo appears to have collaborated on the book, which is said to contain elements reminiscent of “Squid Game.” While the premise may not be shocking, given the popularity of deadly game shows in science fiction, it is notable that MrBeast’s own series on Amazon Prime was one of last year’s top-viewed shows.

James Patterson’s involvement is likely to excite Hollywood executives, as he is the most successful living author, known for creating many novels that have transitioned into popular films and TV shows. The rights for this thriller are being marketed by the United Talent Agency (UTA), along with law firm Williams & Connolly. Insiders mention that studios are eager for this potentially lucrative deal, not just for the book rights, but for the film and television adaptations that follow. Reports indicate that UTA has been receiving offers in the eight-figure range for these rights.

Interestingly, the package includes a nonfiction book, though details remain undisclosed. Currently, the thriller is tentatively titled “The Most Dangerous Game,” but this may change. The book’s plot summary suggests: “Players fight to survive deadly tests held in dangerous locations around the world, aiming to become ‘The One.’”
