Wizards of the Coast Clarifies DMCA Takedown for Baldur's Gate 3 Stardew Mod

Wizards of the Coast acknowledges a mistake after issuing a DMCA takedown notice concerning a mod for Baldur's Gate 3 in Stardew Valley.

The mod previously received personal approval from Swen Vincke, CEO of Larian Studios, and the DMCA notice had a negative reaction from the gaming community.

Wizards of the Coast clarified that the takedown notice was sent in error, stating:
“The Baldur’s Village DMCA takedown was issued mistakenly—we are sorry about that. We are in the process of fixing that now so fans and the Stardew community can continue to enjoy this great mod!”

This mod blends elements from Baldur’s Gate 3 into Stardew Valley, allowing players to develop romantic relationships with characters like Shadowheart and Astarion on a farm setting. The mod took over a year to develop and received much acclaim upon release.

Nexus Mods expressed support for the mod, calling it an incredibly creative crossover that fans love, hoping WotC reverts their decision.

The previous actions taken by Wizards of the Coast had raised eyebrows, considering the company’s recent issues with their community regarding the open gaming license and other controversial business decisions.
