Game Informer Resurrected: A Complete Return of the Original Team
The Game Informer magazine, a staple in the gaming community, has made a stunning return after being discontinued by the struggling retailer GameStop. This revival was facilitated by Gunzilla, a game development firm co-founded by film director Neill Blomkamp.
The Comeback
Last year, amid an environment of financial hardship, the entire team at Game Informer faced layoffs during their efforts to produce what would be their final issue. This marked a bitter end for a magazine nearly 34 years old, but hope emerged as the website and articles were restored.
A letter from Editor-in-Chief Matt Miller emphasized that all former employees have returned, signalling a full and hearty revival of the magazine. He remarked, “The entire team that was working together at Game Informer's closure has returned, from editorial to production and beyond. Seriously—I'm still pinching myself.”
With the new ownership of Game Informer, the magazine assures its readers of complete editorial independence in its operations moving forward. Miller expressed gratitude for the trust and enthusiasm from Gunzilla, affirming their commitment to ethical journalism devoid of external pressure.
A plethora of new reviews and access to digital archives of past issues are now available at Game Informer, along with promises of more exciting content to come. Miller stated, “Our intent is to bring back the magazine bigger and better than it was before.”
This significant event marks a remarkable chapter in the ongoing history of gaming journalism.
