Success of Assassin's Creed Shadows and Steam's Role in Growing PC Activations

The latest Assassin's Creed installment has seen a remarkable launch, with a significant portion of activations stemming from PC players, highlighting Steam's impact in the gaming market.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows has launched successfully, garnering attention especially from PC gamers. According to reported data, 27% of activations are from PC platforms. Notably, this game had its first major launch on Steam in six years, showing the value and audience returning to this platform.

This launch is considered the second-largest in the franchise next to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and although successful, it debuted under unique circumstances as Valhalla did during a busy sales period in November 2020. Ubisoft aims to continue capitalizing on this success, hoping it will assist in recovering from challenges faced within the company.

  • “Steam played a significant role in Shadows’ impressive PC performance.”
