Discord is rolling out a substantial update today, which includes a completely reimagined version of its in-game overlay. This update aims to enhance user experience across a wider range of games.
The new overlay boasts improved speed and support for more titles, as Discord moves away from directly hooking into games—a step ensuring compatibility and stability, reducing issues related to anti-cheat software. The update introduces individual widgets that allow players to customize their interface by moving elements around the screen. Additionally, a new “action bar” has been added for quick access to common controls, making it easier to multitask while gaming.
Furthermore, Discord’s desktop client will feature new themes, expanding beyond the classic Light and Dark modes to include Ash and Onyx themes. The redesigned UI will also offer adjustable spacing options to improve readability.
Discord’s commitment to PC gaming is clearer than ever, with a statement highlighting that over 72% of its users regularly engage in gaming. The company aims to continue enhancing the desktop experience before, during, and after gameplay.
