Phyre is still sleeping.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will not release in the first half of 2025. Given the numerous delays, fans are likely accustomed to this situation by now. However, the revised release window of October aligns perfectly with the eerie vibes of Halloween.
The Chinese Room has stated that the game is “finished” and the team is now focusing on bug fixing, ensuring stability, and enhancing performance. After experiencing the prologue and the character Phyre’s brutal introduction to a modern Seattle, which I played multiple times recently, it certainly seems like the game is approaching a state ready for launch.
What’s still unclear is the reason for the latest delay. Previously, the studio decided to expand on the game’s endings, but now they assert they won’t be adding anything new that could delay the process further.
So far, each delay has raised concerns about the future of this project, yet my outlook has shifted positively. Having completed a substantial portion of gameplay—from draining mortals to dispatching ghouls—I have transitioned from merely intrigued by its troubled development to genuinely excited to dive deeper into the game.
In my experience, it feels like a thrilling power fantasy where even at your weakest, you are a formidable supernatural predator able to manipulate crowds, create blood bombs, and inflict damage on enemies without ever needing to touch a weapon.
Although it’s disappointing to learn that waiting will continue a bit longer, especially since the initial expectation was a release dated back to 2020, I’m willing to be patient for a little while longer.
