Civilization 7 Update Set to Release with More UI Tweaks and Gameplay Adjustments

Firaxis is addressing player concerns as Civilization 7 struggles to match the player counts of its predecessors.

Upcoming Patch for Civilization 7

Firaxis is still diligently working on updates for Civilization 7. Though the game is doing moderately well, it has not reached the impressive player counts of Civ 5 or Civ 6.

The next update, set to be released on March 25, is expected to implement various adjustments to user interface (UI) elements and gameplay mechanics. Notable additions include a ‘quick move’ feature that allows units to shift between hexes instantaneously without transitional movements. Players can now also rename their settlements and military leaders.

Feedback from critical reviews has been mixed, with many players expressing their dissatisfaction regarding the game’s UI. Firaxis recognizes the need for improvement and has committed to making this a priority. The concurrent player count for Civ 7 currently trails behind Civ 5, a significant concern for the developers.

A section of the community is still replaying earlier iterations of the franchise due to gameplay issues with the latest title. As part of balancing adjustments, the game will implement a delay in progress for several tech and civilization advancements to slow down rapid game progression.

“We’re also going to make it tougher to blow through the modern tech and civic trees too quickly,” Ed Beach said in the patch preview video.

Players are advised to stay tuned as the forthcoming update promises improvements, although major overhauls may not be immediate.
