In just three weeks, Ichiban Kasuga, known from Yakuza/Like A Dragon, is set to join the fun in Dave The Diver’s exciting new crossover DLC. This was first teased last month with a broad release window in April. Now, we have a specific date: April 10th. The newest Dev Dive vlog from Mintrocket, the studio behind the game, confirmed this along with fresh gameplay visuals.
In the vlog, director Jaeho Hwang expresses how influential the Like A Dragon/Yakuza series was in shaping Dave The Diver. The immersive minigames and quirky characters serve as a significant source of inspiration.
Hwang also shared how the characters came together, revealing an encounter with Masayoshi Yokoyama, one of the key figures from the Like A Dragon series, at the Tokyo Game Show. They hit it off immediately and exchanged traditional bento boxes—a gesture symbolizing friendship.
This upcoming DLC ensures players will enjoy a mix of underwater adventures and unique challenges, including a side-scrolling brawler segment inspired by Streets Of Rage. Although there’s no co-op option, players can toggle between Ichiban and another character while AI supports them. Expect a karaoke session and familiar faces from Ichiban’s world to pop up as cameos.
There’s still no word on the DLC’s pricing as previous crossover packs haven’t had a price tag attached, although speculation is rife about upcoming content possibly costing extra. All eyes are on the eagerly awaited Into The Jungle DLC, arriving later this year.
