Bethesda Celebrates 19th Anniversary of Oblivion with Minimal Gesture

Bethesda acknowledges the anniversary of Oblivion but fails to satisfy fans hoping for a remaster announcement.

As Oblivion reaches its 19th anniversary, many fans eagerly awaited the traditional celebration normally associated with significant milestones. However, Bethesda made the rather understated choice of marking this occasion simply with a sweet roll adorned with just one candle, sparking mixed reactions from avid players.

Fans were especially disappointed because they had hoped for an announcement regarding a remastered version of the game, which has been speculated about since 2023. Instead, Bethesda delivered only a polite message attached to the cake-like pastry.

While celebrations are common in Canada when turning 19, as it marks the legal drinking age, the arrival of Oblivion’s birthday has been a muted affair. Some fans remain hopeful that an eventual announcement about the remaster will coincide with future birthdays, such as the anticipated twenty-year mark. Others, however, are finding it harder to maintain their optimism.

Fans took to social media expressing their mixed feelings, with some even humorously illustrating their anticipation in memes depicting their eagerness for an Oblivion remaster announcement.
