It has been a long time since the acclaimed strategy RPG Battle Brothers, often tagged as “Mount & Blade meets XCOM,” was updated, yet it continues to thrive. In its latest update, version 1.5.1, developers Overhype Studios rolled out numerous fixes and exciting new content free of charge.

Among the highlights, the update brings two legendary locations filled with new challenges and loot. One of these places, the Abandoned Village, invites exploration for players in the mid-game, while the tougher second location becomes accessible following completion of the first.

These areas also feature narrative elements, enhancing the gameplay experience through illustrated events.

To take advantage of the new content, players must start fresh campaigns, though they may encounter issues with mods until those third-party elements are updated. For those wishing to retain older versions, a workaround via the Betas tab in Steam allows reverting to prior builds.
