World of Goo 2 is Making its Steam Debut

After an exclusive run on the Epic Games Store, World of Goo 2 will finally launch on Steam this coming spring. The developers, 2DBoy and Tomorrow Corporation, expressed gratitude towards Epic for their support in financing the game’s development. They announced the release through Tomorrow Corporation’s website.

The Steam version promises to bring new achievements and a host of updates to enhance the gaming experience, with details on these improvements expected to be revealed later. Notably, the developers indicated that while many updates will be released across all platforms, some features will be exclusive to Steam.

This follows a trend where exclusivity deals are being scrutinized, particularly by the CEO of Epic Games, Tim Sweeney, who acknowledged that not all exclusivity deals have been lucrative for the company. He mentioned, “We spent a lot of money on exclusives… a lot of them were not good investments.”

For fans of the original, this sequel retains the charming physics-based puzzle mechanics that made the first title a success while introducing exciting new elements to attract both new players and returning ones.
