David Lynch, the visionary filmmaker behind classics like Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, and Twin Peaks, has died at the age of 78. His influence extended well beyond cinema, impacting video games significantly. Lynch leaves behind a remarkable legacy and four children.
As confirmed by Variety, Lynch had been suffering from emphysema due to long-term smoking habits. In a recent statement, he expressed: “I enjoyed smoking very much and I love tobacco—but there is a price to pay for this enjoyment, and that price is emphysema.”
Despite his health issues, Lynch remained optimistic about the future, stating he would never retire from creative projects.
Born in 1946 in Missoula, Montana, Lynch began his career while attending the AFI Conservatory from 1972-1976, producing Eraserhead, a surreal film that has garnered a cult following over the years.
