4A Games recently celebrated the 15th anniversary of its critically acclaimed title, Metro 2033. In a heartfelt message conveyed through a video, Creative Director Yevhen “Lin” Fedorets expressed gratitude, stating:
“You’ve given us 15 years of support, 15 years of passion, and 15 years of love. Thank you.”
(Translation: You have provided extensive support and care, and for that, we are grateful.)
Andriy “Prof” Prokhorov, also a co-founder and Creative Director at 4A Games, acknowledged the fan community, stating:
“I want to raise this glass to our fans, to our community. Without you guys, without your support, Metro would not have become what it has become. Thank you, Spartans.”
(Translation: A toast to our loyal fans.)
The anniversary not only looked back at the game’s highlights but also hinted at what lies ahead for the franchise. Notably, creative directions have been influenced by real-world events, as seen in the words:
“In 2022 a full-scale Russian invasion changed how we wanted to tell the story of the next Metro game. As art became life for many of our developers in Ukraine, we drew from that lived experience to create an even darker story.”
(Translation: The ongoing situation has led us to adapt our storytelling.)
Originally launched on March 16, 2010, Metro 2033 has been pivotal in the post-apocalyptic genre, offering an intense narrative drawn from Dmitry Glukhovsky’s novel. The development team is optimistic about the series’ future, assuring fans that even amidst challenges, they remain committed to delivering an engaging experience.
