Industry analysts have shared their predictions regarding the Switch 2 launch, encompassing its release date, pricing, production expenses, and early sales expectations. Most of these Switch 2 forecasts are expected to be validated or refuted by early spring 2025.

March 16 will mark two months since the announcement of the Switch 2. Nintendo has stayed relatively silent regarding details of its upcoming console but plans to elaborate further during an April 2 Nintendo Direct dedicated to the Switch’s successor.

Multiple industry experts have provided bittersweet forecasts regarding the Switch 2 launch, with many noting that it will be Nintendo’s most expensive console to date as a result of inflation and higher production costs. Analysts predict a retail price increase of at least 33% from the current $299 Switch. For example, engineers estimate that the Switch 2’s Nvidia chip alone could cost upwards of $150 compared to the prior $80.

Nonetheless, analysts remain optimistic, projecting between 6 to 8 million units will be shipped on launch day, propelling it to potentially be the largest console launch in gaming history. This release having a target timeframe of June 2025.
