Good news for Invincible fans: the video game adaptation is still in development and is “definitely cool,” according to creator Robert Kirkman. Details about the game have remained sparse since Skybound Games first announced its plans for it, but that radio silence doesn’t mean the company hasn’t been hard at work. A recent update from Invincible’s creator offers some needed, albeit vague, assurance about the title’s development.

Fans first got word of the project when Skybound started a crowdfunding campaign for its AAA Invincible game which raised over $440,000 on its first day. By the time the campaign closed on April 30, 2024, it had raised $687,102, which is far above its minimum goal of $50,000 but well below the maximum target of $5 million. Since the crowdfunding window closed, little, if anything, has emerged about the project, which isn’t a comfortable place to be for those looking forward to the game. Now, there’s finally some relief.

In an interview with Dexerto, Kirkman confirmed the Invincible game is still in the works, although he mentioned he may not be at liberty to provide too many details. Perhaps more excitingly, the comic creator said he’s more hyped about this game than he has been for any other related development in the superhero franchise. That sets expectations for the title pretty high, considering the success of the show, which recently added nine more stars to its cast for Season 3. The show has reportedly already started work on its fourth season, too, so there’s a lot in store for the Invincible universe going forward.
