Gaming laptops are increasingly popular, yet one common drawback is that their GPUs rarely match the performance of desktop versions, even when they share the same model name. A new crowdfunding initiative aims to tackle this issue with the UHPILCL (Ultra High Performance Integration Liquid Cooled Laptop). This innovative laptop promises to integrate a full-size GPU into a compact design, making it convenient for portability.
This Kickstarter project claims to be the “world’s first built-in split-type water-cooled gaming laptop” and is set to launch its funding campaign soon. The UHPILCL can be outfitted with an RTX 5090 GPU and Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU, both of which are not yet matched by any mobile counterparts.
The device supports any Mini-ITX motherboard and is compatible with various desktop CPUs and GPUs, allowing for versatility in upgrades, coupled with the option to install two M.2 drives and two SATA drives.
The design features noticeable grates for airflow, and its heft is complemented by a stand at the bottom for support. An included video showcases a version with a Ryzen 9 9950X, demonstrating its capability to run a gaming session of “Black Myth: Wukong” smoothly despite its somewhat daunting appearance.
In summary, while this ambitious design showcases a desire for powerful mobile gaming, its mass and design quirks may not be appealing to everyone.
