Critical Foam Removals Needed for Sapphire RX 9070/9070 XT Graphics Cards

Users are advised to remove foam inside certain Sapphire RX 9070/9070 XT cards to prevent cooling issues.

If you’ve recently purchased the new AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT or non-XT models, it may be wise to check for protective foam situated between the shroud and heatsink fins. This applies specifically to users of the Sapphire Pure Radeon RX 9070 XT Gaming OC, Pulse Radeon RX 9070 XT Gaming, or Pure Radeon RX 9070 Gaming OC.

Sapphire Japan has issued a statement on X, linking to a post from Ask Corporation, a hardware distributor, regarding this foam issue. The statement emphasizes:

“We apologize for the inconvenience, but we would like to inform you about the cushioning material for the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT.”

The post continues, advising:

“We wish to inform you that the protective cushioning material (sponge) that is attached to the product at the time of shipment must be removed before using the product.” This material, if left intact, can lead to decreased cooling efficiency or potential product failure.

Removing the foam is a straightforward process but is crucial to ensure optimal performance. Simply follow the outlined instructions from Sapphire to safely extract this material to prevent overheating and maintain the longevity of your graphics card.
