BlizzCon 2025 Canceled, But Plans for 2026 Are Already Underway
Blizzard Entertainment has announced that there will be no BlizzCon in 2025, effectively skipping the event's 20th anniversary, but promises a grand return in 2026.
Blizzard Entertainment has announced that it will not hold BlizzCon in 2025, marking the second consecutive year without the event and the fifth since 2020 without a live event. However, Blizzard has confirmed that BlizzCon will return in 2026, with an event scheduled for September 12 and 13 at the Anaheim Convention Center in California.
In a statement from Blizzard, they said:
“For 2026, alongside BlizzCon staples like Opening Ceremony, in-depth panels, the Darkmoon Faire, friendly competition, hands-on gameplay, and more, we aim to meaningfully elevate this iconic celebration and create an unforgettable experience.”
Blizzard did not provide a reason for the cancellation of BlizzCon 2025, which was supposed to celebrate its 20th anniversary. Last year, the company cited that the decision was made internally and not influenced by its new owner, Microsoft. The last in-person BlizzCon occurred in 2019, with subsequent events affected by the Covid pandemic and internal disputes.
Despite the lack of details for 2026, Blizzard president Johanna Faries is expected to reveal more information in an upcoming SXSW panel.
