Cities: Skylines 2 Developer Provides Console Release Update

The team behind Cities: Skylines 2 announces that the game's console versions will not launch before summer 2025 and shares progress on new features.

The team behind Cities: Skylines 2 has confirmed that the console versions of the simulation game are set to be released no earlier than summer 2025. The game, developed by Colossal Order, was launched in October 2023 exclusively for PC, even though it was originally expected to launch for PlayStation and Xbox simultaneously.

The anticipation for Cities: Skylines 2 on consoles has been long and challenging. Its problematic launch on PC significantly influenced publisher Paradox Interactive’s cautious approach towards the console ports. Initially pushed to June 2024, the ports were delayed indefinitely due to unresolved technical issues. In their latest update, the team provided insights into the progress made so far while clarifying the timeline for console users.

Summary

  • Console ports will not arrive before summer 2025.
  • Colossal Order is focusing on enhancing performance and stability for the console versions.
  • Plans are in place to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the original game, which debuted in March 2015.
