Legendary AWP Player GuardiaN Announces His Retirement

The celebrated AWPer ends his nearly 20-year career to pursue streaming.

The iconic AWPer, Ladislav “GuardiaN” Kovács, has confirmed his retirement, concluding a remarkable career that began in 2006. He expressed his desire to shift his focus to streaming at this point in his life.

“The decision was not hard to make,” GuardiaN stated in an interview with HLTV. “After spending half my life competing, I feel burnt out… it was time to pursue new ventures.”
GuardiaN was considered one of the best players in the world, participating in 14 CS:GO Majors but never securing a Major victory, which he mentioned in his reflections on his career.
He highlighted memorable moments including a standout 1v5 play against fnatic during the IEM Katowice grand final, his favorite event being ESL New York 2017, and honoring teammates like Håvard “rain” Nygaard and the legendary Natus Vincere team.

A detailed account of his career can be found on HLTV.
