Zotac Admonishes Users: Avoid Third-Party Cables with Your RTX 50 Series GPU
Zotac warns against using unapproved cables for RTX 50 series graphics cards to prevent overheating.
Zotac, a company recognized for its graphics solutions, cautions users who have recently acquired their RTX 50 series cards from utilizing third-party cables and adapters. Zotac emphasizes that doing so could lead to severe overheating issues, urging users to stick with the provided cables that come with either the graphics card or the PSU.
In a recent blog post, they outlined the potential risks, highlighting that some users have reported problems with the RTX 5090 Founders Edition, where third-party equipment caused thermal issues leading to damaged hardware.
Zotac’s principal advice includes:
- Use only official cables or connectors provided with the GPU.
- Avoid third-party cables, adapters, or angled accessories.
In a previous discussion with PSU experts, the consensus was clear: “It is straightforward, DO NOT BUY adapters or extenders as they pose significant risks.”
To ensure optimal performance and safety, Zotac also recommends using dedicated cables rather than splitters, alongside checking that connectors are securely seated before installation.
