FuturLab Announces End of VR Development for Powerwash Simulator

FuturLab ceases VR support for Powerwash Simulator, citing costs and redeploying staff to other projects.

FuturLab has announced the discontinuation of its VR version for Powerwash Simulator, stating that the project has been financially unsustainable. CEO Kirstey Rigden expressed her regret in a message shared on Bluesky:

“I am sorry to let you know that we won’t be continuing support of Powerwash Simulator VR. We absolutely love and believe in VR, so this doesn’t mean we won’t support it in the future but we aren’t able to continue with support right now.”

Translation: “Lo siento por informarles que no daremos soporte a Powerwash Simulator VR. Amamos y creemos en la realidad virtual, así que esto no significa que no vamos a apoyarla en el futuro, pero no podemos continuarlo en este momento.”

Rigden explained the company faced a decision during which they appreciated their VR team while considering financial viability. This concluded with a shift of developers to different projects while ensuring job security over project continuation.

Despite the disappointing news for VR fans, Rigden has received commendations online for handling the situation transparently. The base game and previously released DLC will stay available for users, although no further updates or content are expected.
