Rumored Twisted Metal Battle Royale Game Would Allow Players to Exit Their Vehicles

A canceled Twisted Metal project was envisioned as a battle royale with unique gameplay mechanics, allowing players to leave their cars.

The lately revealed project around the Twisted Metal franchise suggested a battle royale-style game featuring unique mechanics, where players could exit their vehicles during gameplay.

In recent disclosures from a UI programmer at Firesprite, it has been confirmed that the project was a “third-person vehicular action combat game”. This game was intended to offer a hybrid experience that blended third-person shooting with vehicle combat, aiming for players to be the last one standing.

Sony has a history of adapting established concepts, and this time it appears they might have seen an opportunity to create a new twist on the battle royale format. Given the success of the Twisted Metal series and its upcoming TV adaptation, fan interest in a new game seems promising. Yet, discussions remain about why the game would allow players to leave their cars, which seems like an unexpected feature within a traditionally vehicle-centric franchise.

While still unclear, this could be a bold step in reimagining how Twisted Metal integrates modern gaming trends into its format.
