Discover How to Obtain the Best Assassin Armor in Baldur's Gate 3 Without Dark Choices

A guide to acquiring the supremely effective Bhaalist Armor in Baldur's Gate 3 without making gruesome sacrifices.

Baldur’s Gate 3’s Bhaalist Armor is undoubtedly one of the top armors available, significantly increasing your damage output if you’re a dual-wielding assassin. For context, think of it as akin to the Shrouded Armor from Skyrim. This armor stands as the premier choice for rogues, duelists, or even those wishing to enhance their tanks when paired with damage dealers.

To acquire it, a morally troubling choice is required, presenting a challenge for players inclined towards Chaotic Good. However, as with classic Baldur’s Gate 3 gameplay, there exists a workaround to obtain it cleanly—no evil acts necessary.

Spoilers ahead for Baldur’s Gate 3 Act 3.

The Bhaalist Armor is provided by a merchant called Echo of Abazigal, a spectral entity representing a dragon from Baldur’s Gate 2. To trigger his appearance, you must ascend to the role of an Unholy Assassin of Bhaal by sacrificing Inspector Valeria, a cute flying elephant or ‘hollyphant’ from D&D’s celestial spectrum. Despite being considered bothersome, Valeria’s adorable hat and demeanor complicate the decision of taking her life.

Recent updates to the Baldur’s Gate 3 Wiki now explain an alternate acquisition method. A YouTube user named Toyhouze provided the earliest report.

Upon converting into an Unholy Assassin, Sarevok conjures a ghost of your past victim, who surprisingly carries Abazigal’s full inventory for you to pickpocket. Larian’s innovative Divinity engine allows the control of companions even during cutscenes, facilitating the easy theft of the armor while dialogue is locked. Simply ensure you avoid detection from the Tribunal:

  • Prioritize high Dexterity and proficiency in Sleight of Hand.
  • Use Enhance Ability: Cat’s Grace for advantages.
  • Cast Darkness or Fog Cloud to shield your actions.
  • Save frequently to correct any mistakes

This method not only sidesteps grim ethical decisions but offers ludicrous fun in acquiring powerful loot. The armor itself is not only advantageous (+2 to initiative) but also adds an aura that causes nearby enemies to suffer double damage from piercing weapons. As such, it upgrades the effectiveness of various builds in the game, making its acquisition worthwhile for any player.
