Marvel Rivals Players Discover Risky Modding Techniques

Players of Marvel Rivals have unearthed methods to utilize mods, risking damage to their PCs and reduced performance.

When Marvel Rivals Season 1 launched last week, players discovered the introduction of asset hash checking, which disables client-side mods.

NetEase disallows modding, considering it a serious offense akin to cheating. Even though a myriad of mods were accessible, their use could lead to bans. Players now face a dilemma: use mods at the risk of damaging their PCs or face restrictions imposed by the game.

To use mods, players need direct access to the game’s .pak files. Some have even shared tutorials to assist others through this complicated process. While some mods enhance gameplay performance, players have noted risks of reduced framerates or hardware damage.

NetEase has issued warnings against modifying game files, stating: “It is not recommended to modify any game files, as doing so carries the risk of getting banned.” While modding might bring creativity to the game, it poses serious trade-offs for players’ systems.

In summary, while modding can add new dimensions to Marvel Rivals, the potential for account bans and hardware issues makes it a gamble that many players might reconsider.
