North American teams are poised to experience a significant boost in their opportunities to earn VRS points as Complexity and Mythic League bring back the PrizePicks NA Revival Series. This follows five successful iterations held in 2024.
The forthcoming NA Revival series is scheduled for May 2-4. Additionally, six more events are in the pipeline for the year, with another set for the end of May and one each month until October.
Recent modifications to the tournament format are designed to ensure it is a Valve-ranked event, providing extra opportunities for NA teams to accumulate VRS points amidst an otherwise sparse regional circuit.
The tournament will consist of three stages, commencing with open qualifiers on May 2, where two teams will advance to the group phase. These teams will join six others invited via VRS.
On May 3, the eight-team GSL-style group stage will see teams divided into two groups of four, competing in a BO1 format, except for deciding matches, which will be BO3. Ultimately, the top two teams from each group will proceed to the BO3 single-elimination playoffs on May 4.
The revival of this series is a welcome development for the NA region, especially considering recent adjustments to the VRS points calculation, which have significantly impacted teams. Notably, Valve now calculates point alterations only after a tournament concludes, which has restricted NA teams’ opportunities for Major qualifications.
