DC Universe Characters Set to Join Fortnite

Confirming their collaborations, the leaders of DC Studios announce that characters from the DC Universe will soon arrive in Fortnite as playable skins.

Summary

  • James Gunn and Peter Safran confirmed that DC Universe characters will be featured in Fortnite as skins.
  • DC is developing tie-in video games for its cinematic universe, but these projects are projected to launch in the future.
  • Expected Fortnite collaborations may include upcoming DCU projects like the Superman reboot this summer.

Fortnite has become a hub for various blockbuster movie crossovers, and the heads of DC Studios have just verified that DC Universe characters will soon become available as skins in Fortnite. Iconic figures like Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman have made their appearances in Fortnite, but previously, Epic Games has mostly focused on collaborations with Marvel and its cinematic universe. For instance, last year marked the arrival of Doctor Doom as part of a major building up to his anticipated appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In recent updates, the creative leads at DC Studios highlighted ongoing innovative efforts, spearheaded by James Gunn and Peter Safran, to redefine the cinematic universe. During a recent presentation, Gunn remarked on potential future collaborations with Fortnite, indicating that exciting crossovers are actively being planned, while Safran elaborated that they are currently engaging with Epic Games to determine which characters to spotlight.

Though Gunn and Safran did not disclose specific examples of forthcoming skins for Fortnite, their recent presentation confirmed an enthusiastic slate of projects that are well suited for collaboration. Most notably, the forthcoming Superman reboot is poised to introduce various characters from the DC Universe, alongside Superman. Other upcoming endeavors may include new animated series centered on Green Lantern and Starfire, and even a Teen Titans film is on the horizon.

Recognizing the success of Marvel’s promotions in Fortnite, it seems prudent for DC to adopt a similar strategy to enhance their cinematic universe and showcase potential skins that align with character introductions in films such as David Corenswet’s Superman and Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane.
