Thermaltake Unveils the 2000W Power Supply Too Strong for the USA

Thermaltake has introduced a new powerful power supply model designed for gaming setups that cannot be sold in the United States due to electrical standards.

Thermaltake has showcased several new Toughpower PSUs at CES 2025, including the Toughpower D2000, which is excessively powerful for standard household use in the US. This 2000W power supply far exceeds the typical capacity necessary for high-end gaming rigs, particularly with the introduction of the RTX 5090 graphics card.

Due to the high wattage requirements, most American homes likely do not have the necessary electrical infrastructure to accommodate such a powerful supply; thus, Mike, a representative from Thermaltake, confirmed it will not be available for sale in the USA. Instead, a 1650W alternative remains available for those in the US market.

In contrast, Europe and other regions may support this high voltage supply. Users should verify that their residential wiring meets the necessary codes to safely utilize this powerful unit.

Features Include:

  • Multiple connectors including SATA, PCIe, and GPU connections.
  • Four 12V-2x6 connections.

While most setups would likely benefit from this PSU, it’s primarily aimed at high-performance workstation configurations that make the most of 2000W.

The Toughpower SFX 1200W, another model presented by Thermaltake, is designed for compact builds, packing 1200W of power in a petite form factor while boasting 80 Plus Titanium efficiency.
