Icarus: Major DLC Announced by DayZ Creator

The creator of DayZ unveils a significant DLC update for Icarus, featuring exciting new content.

Summary

  • Icarus will receive significant DLC featuring three initial hunts and other content.
  • The Great Hunts DLC will introduce new bosses and legendary weapons for players.
  • The DLC was announced by Dean Hall, with no specific launch date but is expected to arrive soon.

The creator behind DayZ and Icarus has unveiled a major DLC for the latter, packed with new content. Released in 2021 to generally positive reviews, Icarus is known for its challenging gameplay and unforgiving environments. The survival horror title has undergone numerous patches to fix bugs stemming from its launch.

Icarus is developed by RocketWerkz, a studio founded by Dean Hall, a former designer at Bohemia Interactive. Hall created DayZ while working at Bohemia, initially as a mod for ARMA 2, and later led its standalone development. After leaving Bohemia in 2014, he released titles such as Out of Ammo and Stationeers, positioning Icarus as his studio’s most ambitious project.

New Content Description

The new DLC, titled Icarus: Great Hunts, will include three starting hunts: Quarrite on Olympus, Gargantuan on Styx, and Rimetusk on Prometheus. Further hunts will be added in future updates, each featuring unique bosses with special abilities. While the DLC is not essential, many core game mechanics will be updated without cost.

Gameplay Overview

Icarus takes place on a terraformed planet, where players manage survival against harsh threats and attempt to gather resources while maintaining safe missions. The game’s popularity and its significant updates hint at a growing community and ongoing development.
