Cubicle 7 Clarifies the Launch of Its New Warhammer RPG
Cubicle 7 explains the reasons behind launching a separate Warhammer RPG instead of just expanding their existing game.
Cubicle 7 reveals that its upcoming fantasy RPG based on Warhammer: The Old World will stand alone rather than being an extension of the existing Warhammer Fantasy Role-Play. The new game aims to cater to both seasoned fans and newcomers.
This separation comes after the company realized that both timelines featured in the games are too different for integration due to the significant historical changes in the Warhammer universe.
“There’s no people in common. The geography’s changed completely, so you’d have to do two books in one anyway,” commented CEO Dominic McDowall.
The new RPG is intended to be more accessible, with simplified mechanics aimed at welcoming new players who may not be familiar with Warhammer lore, as explained by Senior Producer Pádraig Murphy. He described the game as maintaining high stakes and a lethal combat system, ensuring an engaging experience for all players.
Players can expect a unique approach where characters begin their adventures with built-in lore and contacts in the game world, allowing smoother entry points into gameplay.
In summary, the Old World RPG may differ from the seasoned WFRP, but it is designed to coexist and expand the Warhammer universe for players.
