Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Mod Introduces Cloud's Iconic Outfit from Kingdom Hearts

A mod for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth enables players to dress Cloud in his classic Kingdom Hearts outfit, complete with two unique styles.

A new Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth mod for PC introduces a feature allowing players to dress Cloud in his outfit from Kingdom Hearts. This outfit includes a red cape, black wing, and bandaged Buster Sword. The mod is now accessible for download by PC users.

The appearance Cloud takes in Kingdom Hearts mirrors that of Vincent Valentine, particularly with the classic Buster Sword wrapped in bandages from hilt to tip. Other series characters have impacted Sora’s journey, yet Cloud initially presented a more antagonistic role employed by Hades from Disney’s Hercules. He appeared as a boss within the Olympus Colosseum in the storyline and optional encounters. In Kingdom Hearts 2, his look transitioned to that of his Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children attire.

Mod creator ColossalCake detailed that the wraps on Cloud’s Buster Sword are aligned along the blade’s top, while also mentioning that, during some cutscenes, the sword’s vertical position might lead to it being missed. Conversely, the Buster Sword properly connects with Cloud’s grip in combat or when not secured on his back.

The mod features two variants of the outfit—both with and without the black wing. The textures and meshes for Cloud’s Kingdom Hearts look were sourced from the 3D fighter, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, where the outfit served as an alternate costume known as the Sky-Soarer outfit.

Despite Final Fantasy characters taking lesser roles in recent Kingdom Hearts releases, many fans remain hopeful for a resurgence of these iconic figures in future installments.

For those interested, the Cloud Kingdom Hearts Outfit mod is available on NexusMods.
