Skyblivion Developers Address the Speculated Oblivion Remake

The Skyblivion team shares their thoughts on the rumored official remake of Oblivion and its impact on their project.

Summary

  • The Skyblivion team remains unconcerned about the rumors regarding an official Oblivion remake, stating that these rumors ‘do not affect’ their project.
  • The Skyblivion mod, which completely remakes Oblivion in the Skyrim engine, is anticipated for release in 2025.
  • Currently, the official Oblivion remake exists only as a rumor.

A recent interview with Kyle Rebel revealed that the Skyblivion team is unperturbed by the speculated official Oblivion remake. The team believes that their ongoing project, which began as a simple port to Skyrim, has evolved substantially since its inception in 2012. Completion is nearing, with a projected release around 2025. Despite rumors swirling around the rumored remake, the team feels confident in their approach and progress.

Kyle expressed that whether the rumors about another remake are genuine or not, they don’t significantly impact their plans: “I think whether the rumors are true or not doesn’t affect us much… If the rumors are not true, then Skyblivion will remain the best way to re-experience Oblivion.”

As speculation continues, the community remains eager to see how these two projects might coexist.
